Here you can find my printing techniques.

Among others, I have used the following techniques:

  • letterpress: The printing elements stand out visually and haptically from the printing form. The areas to be printed lie raised on the printing form and are inked during printing. The letterpress includes:
  • linocut: A negative pattern is cut into a linoleum plate with a special tool. This pattern is rolled over with paint and printed on paper. I used vinyl block instead of a linoleum plate because I find the material easier to handle.
  • gravure printing: The areas to be printed are recessed in the printing form. During printing, the whole printing form is inked. Then the excess ink is removed so that the ink remains only in the recesses. The ink is transferred by high contact pressure. The gravure printing includes:
  • copper engraving: A motif is dug into a copper plate with a graver. During printing, the resulting lines absorb the ink, which is printed onto paper by a roller press.
  • through-printing: The motif is created through the openings on a stencil holder or a screen. The areas to be printed are ink-permeable and the areas not to be printed are ink-impermeable. Through-printing includes:
  • screen printing: The ink is printed onto the printing material through the openings of a fine-mesh sieve with the help of a rubber squeegee.
